Easy Homemade Peanut Butter Granola

There’s nothing like a morning on the farm when I pour myself a bowl of freshly made Peanut Butter Granola and top it with raw cows milk or my favorite greek yogurt. I can’t help but think about how Beau’s Great Grandpa Mease is probably looking down from Heaven reminding us that “Everything is better with peanut butter!” And we can’t help but agree! I’ve always been big on breakfast cereal out of their ease, quickness, and let’s not forget tastiness too! Today we are sharing one of our favorite breakfast recipes on the farm, peanut butter included.

For the longest time, I would purposefully avoid the cereal aisle in the store because I could never bring myself to buy a high quality granola because of the hefty price tag. I decided to start making my own granola a couple years ago and I will never go back. It’s so easy and so much fun! Not only can you add any ingredients you feel like to your weekly batch but it takes all of 30 minutes and costs far less than any gourmet granola you could find in the store. This easy homemade peanut butter granola version is one of my favorites to date!

A granola recipe with the most common ingredients but the yummiest taste.

Check your pantry! Betcha have all these ingredients or a great substitution.

Easy Homemade Peanut Butter Granola: Ingredients & Substitutions

  • Oats: I have used both quick-cooking + old-fashioned oats in this recipe and both have worked well!
  • Peanut Butter: If you are not a fan of peanut butter (like Great Grandpa Mease!), you can really use any nut or seed butter in its’ place. It helps to slighty soften or melt your chosen butter variety to make mixing with dry ingredients easier and as even as possible.
  • Honey: Another alternative to honey is maple syrup. A great option for vegans!
  • Raisins: These can also be substituted for craisins or any dried fruit you love.
  • Chopped Almonds: You can add any nut you prefer here or leave them out. I

Tips For Making This Peanut Butter Granola

If you like your granola crunchy pressing it down firmly onto the baking sheet is key. You may need to add some more wet ingredients (ie. peanut butter or honey) if it doesn’t stick together.

Parchment paper over your baking sheet comes in handy to keep granola from sticking.

Your granola should look golden brown when you pull from the oven. It may seem soft but rest assured it will clump and harden during the cooling process.

How to make homemade peanut butter granola.

  1. Mix all the dry ingredients togethers: In a bowl mix together the oats, chopped almonds, and flaxseed.
  2. Melt wet ingredients in a small pot on warm to combine and stir the wet ingredients into the dry: Add the honey peanut butter, and vanilla to the dry ingredients and fold everything together until all the dry ingredients are coated.
  3. Shape the granola into a disc and bake: Form the granola into a flat compact disc when you bake it by patting it into a flat oval. Bake at 325°F until it’s golden brown (30 minutes). You can leave the granola in the oven turned off to crunch up even more if you’d like!
  4. After cooling, crumble up your granola to enjoy! Crumble your granola into large chunks or smaller ones and add raisins into mixture. Store in an airtight container or plastic bag and enjoy on yogurt, with milk, or plain!
